Jordan is 18 months old today. Guess he won't be needing me to hold on to his fingers for him to walk by the time we get him home. (Sigh!)
Mike deserves major props this week First he had to go to Radio Shack, Circuit City and Home Depot to get a new router and the various hardware needed to install it. Then he had to screw around downloading new drivers and crap for two days to get my internet back up again. And as you can see, it works! Yay Mike! :-)
LOTS of photos, as promised...
In progress socks: Opal Masterpiece (Color #3706); the brown line of stitching is a placeholder for the afterthought heel. These are toe-up using a figure 8 start with K2P2 ribbing at the top. The ribbing is almost done. I'll most likely use a K2P2 sewn castoff. I originally bought two balls of this yarn at last years TKGA convention in Manchester, NH. I was going to use it to make Devan in the colors of my alma mater, University of Michigan (maize 'n blue) for Jordan. But I swatched it and didn't like the way it was striping for the sweater. Love the socks though!! So I'm still on the hunt for the perfect colored sock yarn to make Devan.
In progress socks: Koigu KPPPM (Color #405, which isn't in the photo in this link) . I have a tee shirt that is exactly this turquoise color. These socks are toe-up with a figure 8 start, and the garter stitch short row heel from Cool Socks Warm Feet by Lucy Neatby. I love this heel and definitely plan to use it again. No gaps!
In progress sweater for MIke: Hjalte (Elizabeth Lavold) from Spring 2005 Knitter's in denim colored Silky Wool. This is both sleeves and the beginning of the back. I avoid sleeve island by doing them first. (heh heh heh) I love the cool cable detail on the cuffs. It's kind of hard to see in these pictures. You knit a long narrow 6-stitch strip of a 2x2 crossover cable with a selvedge stitch on each side. Then pick up along one long side and knit the ribbing downward. Then pick up along the other long side and knit the sleeve upward. Very sweet looking, and easy as pie.
Adoption news: Our dossier (the collection of final (we hope!) paperwork) has been officially submitted to the Russian Court. We're hoping and praying for word in the next week or two.
